Assistant Professor of Instruction in Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Northwestern University invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible, faculty appointment as Assistant Professor of Instruction, beginning September 1, 2023. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a teaching-track position that offers good prospects of job security and promotion, contingent upon continuing excellence in job performance. Duties include teaching six quarter-long undergraduate courses per academic year. 

We welcome applications from stellar teachers, especially those with proven ability to teach a range of lower- and upper-division courses in psychology. We particularly welcome applicants who can teach courses in the following area(s): Research Methods in Psychology, Introduction to Personality Psychology, Cultural Psychology, and applied clinical psychology. Three letters of recommendation addressing the candidate’s teaching abilities should be submitted directly by the letter writers through the same website.  A Ph.D. in Psychology is required, but ABD will be considered if the degree will be completed before 9/1/23. Assistant Professor of Psychology in Human Neurosciences 

The Psychology Department at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the human neurosciences. The anticipated start date is fall of 2023. We will consider applicants capable of developing an excellent program of research to focus on the neuroscience of human cognition, broadly construed. We are most interested in research that emphasizes cognitive, affective, and/or social/developmental perspectives. Current faculty research touches on psychological and neuroscientific topics such as sensory awareness, perception, attention, memory, language, motor learning, sleep, dreaming, creativity, depression, anxiety, and psychosis. Our faculty also contribute to teaching outstanding undergraduates and graduate students.

Candidates should submit electronically  a statement of research interests, curriculum vitae, and up to three publications.
