Program Areas

The Department of Psychology at Northwestern University reflects the richness of the field of psychology as a whole. Its five main areas of research and instruction—Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience; Clinical; Cognitive; Personality, Development & Health; and Social—are among the best in the nation. Federally-, privately-, and internally-funded research programs seek to provide a basic understanding of human thinking, behavior, and psychological and physical well-being, as well as interventions to improve a variety of human conditions.
